An Interactive Adventure

Starring Milo Pulsar, Shaula Bluestar, and YOU

There is no reason a pitter-patter of asteroid dust, or whatever is making that sound, should interrupt your relaxation. Drawing your senses back in, you close your eyes and sink back into the blissful reverie of reflected starsong.

Months pass in a soft blue haze. Some years later, you find yourself wondering why you haven’t seen Milo in a while. You take a quick day trip to the Tower of Deepsight to search for your friend; but instead discover something shocking.

“It’s been thirty years since we’ve seen Champion Pulsar,” Journeyman Thom- now Temporal Sorceror Thom, how quickly these humans grow!- says to you sadly. “In truth, we thought you must certainly be dead as well. It’s been thirty years, Shaula.”

“Thirty years,” you reply in wonder. It’s not particularly long for you; as a starbeing, your life is measured in centuries, millennia even. But for most humans, it’s a quarter of a lifetime.

“We never discovered what happened to him,” Thom continues, eyes downcast. “Did you… is there anything you can tell us?”

You shake your head slowly. “Would that I could,” you murmur, and then make your polite goodbyes.

You do some searching yourself over the next few years, but find no more than the Order of Paragon ever did. Finally, you are forced to conclude that your best friend and partner is long dead.

Heartsick, you retreat to the isolation of your crystal home. Perhaps after a few centuries of grieving, you might return to the world of men; but then, perhaps not.

THE END
